Whitepaper: The Dental Divide
This whitepaper explores the causes and repercussions of structurally separating dental care from medical care in the U.S. This split particularly impacts low-income families, contributing to poor oral health. For their children it can mean a cascade of health consequences borne the rest of their lives.
WHAT WE DO
What is Benevis?
Benevis is a Dental Services Organization (DSO) unlike any other. We provide infrastructure, operations, development and marketing support to dentists, hygienists and dental assistants who care for children and their families in traditionally underserved communities.
We are built specifically to provide high-quality care to those dependent on Medicaid – many of whom could not otherwise access or afford needed dental care.
We live and work close to the communities we serve; wherever we go, we raise the standard of dental health for all.

Professional Growth and Advancement
Benevis fosters an active learning and mentoring environment. Our practices bring together new professionals and seasoned practitioners (many of whom have ten years or more of practice experience). We also prioritize promotion from within, so you can keep looking up with us.
A Career Making an Impact Right Now
We are the only DSO focused on serving Medicaid-dependent households. Studies show that better dental health leads to better overall health outcomes.* Every Benevis dentist, hygienist and staff member helps usher in a brighter future for the communities they serve.
Diversity in
Our DNA
Our business has its roots in serving diverse communities. What’s more, we lead the industry in equitable hiring practices: 51% of our dentists are women; 33% of them are women from a minority (21% are African-American).

I was drawn to the diversity…it gives you a more well-rounded education, working with so many different kinds of people.”
Dr. Aicha Khamsi, DDS

It was the perfect fit...I had some great mentors both operationally and clinically. Here I am eight years later, still with Benevis. I decided to put private practice on the back burner and continue doing what I love.”
Dr. Kayla Dawson, DDS

The Benevis mission is basically to service the underserved. The mission lined up with how I had been practicing, what I believe in, and the people whom I want to serve.”
Dr. Julian Stewart, DDS

Dental Spotlight: Dr. Jane Wang
Dr. Jane Whang joined us in 2009 as an Associate Dentist serving the Washington, D.C. area. A graduate of Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and a veteran of overseas relief missions, with Benevis Dr. Hwang pursues her lifelong passion: to serve the underserved. She initially had no interest in management, preferring to stay hands-on with patients (talk about mission-minded!). Her Benevis mentor encouraged her to consider leadership as a way to have an even greater impact, and fortunately for everyone she took up the challenge. Today Dr. Whang serves as Regional Director of Clinical for the East Region, where she works to inspire and develop young dentists who want to make a difference.
THE LATEST FROM BENEVIS

Dr. Phillips is an Orthodontist at Pine Dentistry and Braces in Washington, DC. Not only does she align teeth, but she also mentors her patients and aligns their futures.
